Bowerbirds
w. Megafaun The utterly beautiful Bowerbirds return to the Mill after a stunning performance this past spring. The band has a brand new album sure to be bristling with exquisite harmonies, seductive melodies, and warm instrumentation. Bowerbirds, took off in the last year upon a wave of national press for their highly acclaimed debut record, Hymns for a Dark Horse. It was a beautiful record, in turns, for heartfelt acoustic instrumental grace and soaring, almost mournful three part harmonies. While so many different magazines and websites loved the album, it seemed the most endearing accolades came from John Darnielle (of the Mountain Goats) when he said, "Only once every ten years or so does one hear a new band this good, this bursting with ideas, this audibly in love with music... It is beyond stunning. This band is the complete package." Indie-pop act, Megafaun opens. 8PM SHOW / $8 / ADVANCE TIX AVAILABLE SOON Web site: http://www.myspace.com/bowerbirds

Neil Hamburger
w. special guest JP Incorporated (formerly Pleaseasaur)
America's funny man Neil Hamburger comes to the Mill! A native of Culver City, CA, Hamburger began his comedy career on the advice of his psychiatrist, who suggested performing as a means of therapy; packing his belongings into a Los Angeles storage locker, he mounted a relentless touring schedule, claiming to play upwards of 360 nights a year at rock clubs and pizza parlours across America. You may have seen him more recently on the Jimmy Kimmel Show and in Tenacious D and The Pick Of Destiny. Despite his appalling comic timing, muddled delivery, and cliched material, stand-up Neil Hamburger nevertheless emerged as one of the most acclaimed and name-checked comedians of his generation; like Lenny Bruce before him, he is a hipster icon whose trailblazing riffs defy conventions at every turn, transcending the confines of hilarity with kamikaze recklessness. 9PM showtime / $10 admission Web site: http://www.myspace.com/americasfunnyman

Captured! By Robots
Captured! by Robots is an actual band of robots that play instruments. As the story goes J-Bot couldn't get along with other people in bands (notably playing in Skankin' Pickle and The Blue Meanies), so he built himself a band of robots to back him up. Of course the robots turned evil and enslaved him forcing him to tour and degrade himself in front of crowds across the nation.
This is pretty amazing stuff and has to be seen to be believed! The robots featuring; two different drum bots, a double necked guitar bass bot, a robot horn section and the lovable Ape Which Hath No Name, have been featured on UPN's "Strange Universe", the discovery channel's "Beyond Bizarre", Tech TV, ABC 7 6 o'clock news, and more.. You should probably go look him up on You tube right now actually.
